Counselling or psychotherapy provides a space to explore what you need to be able to expand, let go of the past, find direction, and explore your process without having to worry about anyone else. We all have blind spots or find that we get stuck in a feeling or perspective that limits us. As a therapist, my goal is to provide a compassionate and non-judgmental presence that enables you to develop trust in yourself and your experience, and help you access parts of yourself that have been cut off through habit or fear.

It is not always possible for significant others to provide the degree of objectivity necessary to focus just on your needs. Nor is it appropriate for friends, partners or family to take responsibility for your needs in this way. Therefore, counselling or psychotherapy provides a very unique relationship that supports you in your process towards expanding the possibilities of who you are, and how you choose to live your life.

There are times that the challenges in our lives may lead to isolation, anxiety, depression, and other health problems. Through counselling or psychotherapy, you can explore your alternatives, build on your strengths, and develop new insight and skills. Regardless of your reason, therapy offers a broad array of benefits for all of us.

Life can often be difficult and hard to navigate but I believe that we all have the strength, resilience and natural desire to grow, to change and to live a more fulfilling life. Therapy is a place to feel known and understood. It is a challenging, yet warm process that entails self-reflection and honest conversation. Therapy is also a place to overcome painful experiences. Your story, your pain, and your collection of struggles is unique to you. I am committed to working deeply and gently with your life story, and to creating a space for you to feel comfortable, and open. My intentions are to help you reach your goals in a supportive, empathic and compassionate space where you feel safe. Each of us deserves to know what it feels like to be supported during life’s challenges.

Therapeutic Approach

My approach to therapy is collaborative and centered around respect and empathy. I meet people where they are, understand and walk alongside them to where they want to be. There is no one-size fits all approach to therapy. I draw from a variety of methodologies and techniques to incorporate what is most helpful for each individual. Whether you are struggling with short-term or lifelong difficulties, we will spend some time understanding exactly what you are experiencing and why, so that when you start making changes to improve your life, they will stick. Simply “surviving” is not healthy, and it is not sustainable. You have a right to live a meaningful and purposeful life.

Clinical Experience

I have worked in the mental health field since 2000 and currently work at a medical trauma center. My role in this fast-paced setting is a combination of raw emotion, high intensity, and a desire to support patients and their families through what is often the worst day of their lives. My time with them may only be a few hours, but I am honored to support them, and I take pride in trying to be the calming force. Over 20-years later, my passion and dedication to this work burns as bright as ever.

Private practice was a choice I made because I felt it offered me full autonomy, closer client relationships, and an option to best serve clients with the least amount of stress while maintaining a healthy personal work-life balance. Private practice affords me the opportunity to do deeper work with a diverse range of clients. By helping clients learn more about themselves, they begin to create a life that feels more authentic to them. Asking for help shows signs of strength, confidence and resourcefulness.

I strive to continue to learn to ensure that my clients are given the best therapy that I can provide.

Clinical Specialties

My clinical areas of interest and specialization focus on those impacted by trauma, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, PTSD, stress management, relationship challenges, anxiety, self-esteem issues and personal growth.
